Why I am a Financial Advisor:
I became a financial advisor because I enjoy working with numbers, creating order from chaos, and because of my love of news and my recently discovered interest in economics.  I’ve worked with numbers in the past both in public accounting and as a controller in business.  Public accounting entails preparing tax returns – this is something you either enjoy or you move on.  I moved on.  Over time, being a controller in the business sector can wear you down.  Federal, state, and local rules, regulations, taxes, fees, and reporting consume a large part of a controller’s time and eventually wore down my spirit.

I enjoy analyzing data, evaluating risks against rewards, watching or reading the news and determining how it might affect people or products, reviewing economic data for clues about future trends, and trying to determine how that will interact with people and their lifestyle choices or the products they purchase.  When all the pieces come together, the investment is successful and the hunt is on for the next winner.

Not all investments are winners.  It is important to understand the investor’s risk level when evaluating an investment decision.  How much can you afford to lose both monetarily and emotionally.  I believe that all investors should know what they are trying to accomplish and evaluate the likelihood of achieving that goal with their current strategy.
I believe that people view money three ways:  resources to spend, wealth to give, or a source of security against life’s unknowns.  One will be the driving force in our desire to accumulate assets and how we use them.  Regardless of the reason for accumulating wealth, investors need to find a way to balance risk and reward and set reasonable limits.  The choices you make today will affect your life tomorrow.
